Phonology is a basic attribute of natural language, and English and Chinese have both commonalities and certain differences at the level of phonology. The comparative study of English and Chinese phonology is of great significance in revealing the laws of sound change in human languages and in constructing and perfecting the theories of linguistics. The book is divided into eight chapters. The first chapter briefly summarizes and reviews the development of phonological research and the results of English-Chinese phonological comparative studies; the second to sixth chapters are based on the theory of generative phonology, and analyze English and Chinese comparatively in terms of consonant segments, vowel segments, syllable structure, suprasegmental features and phonological changes; the seventh chapter discusses the impact of English-Chinese phonological differences in language teaching; the eighth chapter summarizes the whole book and looks forward to the future research trends. Chapter 8 summarizes the book and gives an outlook on future research trends. This book is academic, cutting-edge and leading, and can be used as a reference for master and doctoral students, teachers and researchers engaged in phonetics, phonology and English-Chinese comparative studies, as well as a reference for foreign language teaching and teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
