In 1946, Estonia was under Soviet rule, and everyone lived under the weight of the Soviets and their laws. The story has four protagonists, all telling the same tale, but each from their own perspective. The first is a six-year-old boy who loves cars. He is fascinated when the latest model, the Nasr, enters his street, marking the beginning of a series of hardships for the young boy. The second is his mother, whose husband has been arrested for opposing the Soviet regime. She tries desperately to resist the handsome KGB officer who owns the Nasr and wants to take her son from her and raise him as a good Russian citizen. The third protagonist is her sister, Johanna, an opera singer with many admirers. But everything ended when the Soviets arrived. She longs to return to her singing career and escape to her English lover, Alan, who is desperately trying to reach her. However, the KGB officer who owns the Nasr is always watching her. Finally, the owner of the car, Nasr, the ambitious young KGB officer, who connects everyone in the story with one thread, knows them all and they are all in his grasp, but he may be destroying himself without realizing it in pursuit of his ambition and dreams.
