This book is the first in the series dedicated to the Hyperlink Learning Method. So, what exactly is the Hyperlink Learning Method? Starting from the point when humans began using tools 2.5 million years ago, the author traces a main thread of three cognitive revolutions in human history: instrumental rationality, cooperative rationality, and axiological rationality. The main thread of hyperlinked cognition begins in the Axial Age. Specifically, it encompasses "e;the way of life, from the inside out, cooperative rationality, and the unity of heaven and man,"e; imbued with rich Chinese philosophical colors. If four different types of wisdom emerged during the Axial Age, then the main thread of hyperlinked cognition represents the pinnacle of human wisdom. But what exactly is wisdom? The author argues that wisdom is not merely inspirational advice but rather solutions to problems under conditions of scarcity of resources and environmental constraints. This stands in stark contrast to knowledge, which is solutions to problems under conditions of abundance of resources and environmental support. Knowledge can be learned and imitated, but what about wisdom? Thus, the author introduces the question of how to learn wisdom. Can wisdom be learned? How? The author proposes a learning method entirely different from traditional lifelong learning approaches: the Hyperlink Learning Method. Its core idea is "e;to understand good books from around the world through a single hyperlinked cognitive thread,"e; and those who read using this method are called hyperlinked learners. [1] So, how does one become a hyperlinked learner? The Hyperlink Learning Method is not a concept, a theory, or even a method in the traditional sense. Rather, it is the formation of a personal hyperlinked cognitive thread within the reader through extensive reading of classic authors. This cognitive thread enables one to understand all books related to the natural world, the cognitive world, and the world of knowledge, and to connect them. Where does this cognitive thread come from and where does it lead? The author has designed this unique book series in the realm of reading, consisting of three parts.
