The Prophet of Cheapo is a comedy screenplay by Pawan Bhatia. It begins with four LARPers—Morwenna, Sir Baldric, Fenella, and Dave—who are accidentally transported from a muddy English reenactment to the medieval village of Dungwich. There they meet Gunter, a struggling farmer with a broken plow, his practical wife Hilda, and Bertram, a joyless tax collector. When Morwenna's smartphone lights up in the mud, Gunter mistakes it for a divine object. The LARPers, unable to return home, play along as angels. Gunter uses the phone to 'prophesy' practical advice: repairing his plow, crop rotation, hand-washing, and stew recipes. Villagers flock to his barn shrine, paying in turnips. Father Oswald's congregation vanishes, while Fenella launches a rival aura-reading business and Bertram keeps meticulous records. Gunter leads a comic siege on Baron Roderick's castle after the Baron refuses copper wire to recharge the phone. The peasants are initially routed by dishwater, but they build a catapult and launch Bertram into the moat. Gunter negotiates with the Baron, trading agricultural knowledge for a new plow, copper, and a council seat. Hilda secretly runs the real ledgers, and Gunter eventually credits her publicly. Bertha the pig becomes a beloved mascot and 'Hero of the Realm.' Baron Roderick slowly becomes a fairer ruler, even standing up to Cousin Villiers and Seneschal Edmund's schemes. Bertram joins as treasurer; Sir Baldric founds a charter court; Dennis becomes a clerk; Percival the jester finds an audience. The Ministry of Divine Agriculture grows. A fraud, Silas, steals pages and creates a Second Prophet, but Gunter responds by spreading real farming methods. The phone gradually dies, and Dave reveals its failing battery. Gunter accepts that the system no longer depends on it. In a chaotic final pilgrimage to the original clearing, Baron Roderick attacks, Seneschal Edmund schemes, Father Oswald refuses to betray Gunter, and the LARPers recover their car keys and return home. The phone goes dark. Gunter keeps it on the mantel, not as a god but as a tool that changed his life. The epilogue shows the LARPers back in the present: Morwenna rejects an acquisition, Dave returns to IT with peace, Fenella mentors Gretchen, and Sir Baldric gives his wife a charter. The village finally holds a harvest festival and an anniversary celebration. Dungwich prospers through crop rotation, honest governance, and community, not miracles. The mid-credits scene shows Edmund studying the dead drone, convinced there will always be more than one box.
