How beautiful Homer!Historians have differed greatly about it, but their disagreement about it is worthless as long as the Iliad and the Odyssey exist, and as long as we have no choice but to acknowledge for them an author who was able to record his personality in both of them, and to imprint them with his own character, so why not Homer? If he is not their author, what harm does it do to literature if we call this author Homer? And those historians who deny it without any argument or proof except that they are imposing on one human mind this huge production and the great harvest that constitutes the literature of a nation, and from which its poets and the poets of other nations in every time and place have drawn, and are still drawing. Why do these people who deny Homer not believe Herodotus, who is the father of history and who was reported to have four hundred years between him and Homer?!Isn't the frequency correct in four centuries and correct in dozens of them? The history of Herodotus is the most truthful of ancient history that has come down to us. He mentioned Homer and his two epics, and even specified the day of his death. He heard singers in every part of Greece repeating his songs from the Iliad, from the Odyssey, and from other than the Iliad and the Odyssey.
