Starting school can be exciting, scary, confusing and full of surprises!

For Mari the Piglet, Pre-K means stepping into a completely new world. She doesn't know her teacher, her classmates, or what happens next. From learning the classroom routine and cleaning up after playtime to asking for the bathroom, carrying her own lunchbox, and making her very first friend, Mari discovers that being independent doesn't mean she has to know everything on the first day.

For Nehemiah the Little Brown Bear, Kindergarten feels like a BIG step! He already has familiar friends at Forest Academy, including Kizzy, Kenny, and Bernard, but his new classroom comes with new expectations. There are directions to follow, places to remember, responsibilities to handle...and one very shocking discovery:

As Mari and Nehemiah experience two very different first days, they learn that new environments take time to understand. Routines help us know what comes next, directions help keep everyone safe and learning, and asking for help is part of becoming more independent.
