Life, Dealt is a semi-fictional coming-of-age novel about fate, responsibility, and the quiet strength it takes to choose yourself when life doesn't give you choices.

Told through the lens of tarot cards, the story follows Aaliyah, a driven, introspective Black girl whose life is reshaped by circumstances beyond her control. Each chapter is marked by a card - moments she doesn't choose, but must learn how to live through. When her mother suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, Aaliyah is forced into a role far beyond her years: caregiver, anchor, survivor. As instability piles on - eviction, grief, isolation, academic pressure - she learns that endurance alone is not enough. She must decide who she becomes in the process.

While the cards seem to predict loss, fear, and responsibility, Aaliyah refuses to let them define her future.
