A Life in Transition is transsexual activist and author, Kay Brown's personal memoir of her early life, holding nothing back. In it we see what it was really like to experience social and medical transition as a teenager in high school in the mid 1970s. It documents that transkids did exist long before our current age of controversy and angst about transsexual children and teens. It chronicles both those that helped her and those that tried hard to thwart her search for a "good enough life".

The book adds depth and context to her two other books in the Understanding Transsexuality series, On the Science of Changing Sex and Rainbow's End.

I was given the opportunity to read a pre-release of Kay Brown's memoir: A Life in Transition. It is a beautifully written and moving piece of work, that had me laughing at moments and almost crying at others. I can not recommend it enough. At 100 or so pages, it is a brisk refreshing read.
