Laura Swart has spent most of her life wondering about the family she never truly knew.
When her estranged father dies and unexpectedly leaves her his farmhouse in South Africa's Western Cape, Laura travels from Scotland intending to settle his affairs, sell the property and return home.
But the house has other ideas.
There are photographs that seem to change. Footsteps where no one has walked. A record playing in an empty room. And fleeting glimpses of a life Laura recognises, even though she knows she never lived it.
As she begins uncovering the secrets her father left behind, Laura is drawn deeper into the family history that shaped her-and towards the half-brother she barely knew, whose story ended long before she arrived.
At the same time, the life she came to South Africa to dismantle is quietly becoming one she doesn't want to leave. A farmhouse that feels increasingly like home. Unexpected friendships. And Ben, the neighbouring farmer who understands more about loss-and second chances-than Laura first realises.
But some possibilities refuse to disappear simply because they never happened.
And when the past offers Laura something she has wanted all her life, she must decide how much she is prepared to risk for the chance to change what was lost.
All the Days We Never Shared is an emotional novel about family, grief, belonging and the lives that might have been-for readers who believe that sometimes the strongest bonds are the ones time cannot quite let go.
