Base Du Système Métrique Décimal, Ou Mesure De L'arc Du Méridien, Compris Entre Les Parallèles De Dunkerque Et Barcelone, Exécutees En 1792 Et Années Suivantes, Volume 3 details the scientific expeditions led by Pierre François André Méchain and Jean-Baptiste Delambre to measure the meridian arc between Dunkerque and Barcelona. This ambitious project, undertaken during the French Revolution, aimed to establish the foundation for the metric system. This volume offers invaluable insights into the methodologies, challenges, and political context surrounding the birth of a standardized system of measurement. It remains a vital resource for historians of science and mathematics, as well as anyone interested in the origins of the metric system.
