I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but I've been drawn to her since she moved to our small town in sixth grade. With her beautiful hazel eyes and radiant kindness. The desire I feel for her borders on uncontrollable. It doesn't matter though; I can't risk our friendship. Especially not now that my life has been turned inside out. 

My old man is mean on a good day; now he's downright unhinged. But I'll take every ounce of his grief if it means he'll keep his hands off my brother and sister. Protecting them and hiding the extent of my waking nightmare from the rest of the town is all that matters.
