Beneath Black Hollow

Seventeen-year-old Mason Rivera thought the Ground Echo Challenge was just another viral internet trend.

Film a video. Stomp on the ground in an abandoned place. Listen for the strange sound that answers back.

But when Mason and his friends Ava Brooks and Theo Carter try the challenge at the abandoned Black Hollow Quarry, something beneath the mountains answers them.

And it isn't an echo.

Soon, enormous clawed footprints appear across town. Roads split open in the middle of the night. Pale prehistoric creatures begin emerging from tunnels hidden beneath Black Hollow, fleeing from something far older and far more dangerous deep underground.

As the town falls into chaos and the government seals Black Hollow off from the outside world, Mason and his friends uncover the terrifying truth: an ancient ecosystem has been hidden beneath the mountains for millions of years and the viral challenge may have awakened the one creature that should never reach the surface.

Now, with earthquakes tearing Black Hollow apart and monstrous predators rising from below, the teens must descend into the darkness beneath the quarry before the entire mountain wakes up.
