After years of estrangement, Veronica returns home upon learning that her mother is terminally ill. But she arrives too late-her mother has already passed. Struggling with grief, guilt, and the desire to reconcile her past, Veronica sets out to find him.
Meanwhile, Veronica's personal life is in freefall. She is married to Leon, a drug dealer entangled in a high-stakes immunity deal with federal authorities. As they negotiate their way towards a clean slate, the ghosts of Leon's past come knocking -literally. Leon's former partner, Victor, whom Leon betrayed and sent to prison years ago, is out of prison and determined to settle old scores. Victor complicates their path to freedom threatening Veronica's sense of stability and hope.
