The Origins and History of Bernedoodles

The history of the Bernedoodle dates back to the early 2000s, when breeders started experimenting with breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs with Poodles to produce a dog that merged the intelligence and low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the calm demeanor of the Bernese.

The precise ancestry of the Bernedoodle is a little less clear than that of other well-known breeds; however, the intentional intermarriage gained popularity as a result of the need for family- and allergy-friendly canines.

The Bernedoodle's popularity skyrocketed, much like that of many other designer breeds, as families looked for cuddly pets that could also live in allergy-conscious homes.
