Anthony Burgess (1917-1993) was a British novelist, critic and composer. He was also a librettist, poet, playwright, screenwriter, journalist, essayist, travel writer, broadcaster, translator, and educationalist.Although he was not published until well into middle age, Burgess had amassed more than sixty published books to his credit by the time of his death. One in particular, the short story "A Clockwork Orange" (1962), brought him fame and notoriety the world over following the 1971 release of Stanley Kubrick's still controversial film adaptation."Conversations with Anthony Burgess" brings together an unrivalled collection of interviews - including two previously unpublished pieces - from between 1971 and 1989, that capture Burgess' famed energy, inventiveness, and linguistic talent.
