Das Populäre

In diesem Band wird die Bedeutung des Populären für die deutsche Literatur, Kultur und Sprache in seiner Vielschichtigkeit analysiert. Popularität ist ein Begriff, der nicht nur die Literatur- und Kunstschaffenden, die Intellektuellen und Wissenschaftler beschäftigt (man denke z. B. an das Gegensatzpaar elitäre Kultur und populäre Kultur), sondern auch ein Stichwort, das für Historiker, für Kultur-, Literatur- und Sprachwissenschaftler gleichermaßen relevant ist. Im Zentrum dieses interdisziplinären Bandes stehen die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen dem Populären und dem, was sich von dem Populären abzusetzen sucht (Stichworte: E-Kultur vs. U-Kultur, Trivialliteratur vs. hermetische Literatur, Hochsprache vs. Umgangssprache, Subvertierung der Hochsprache).This volume is concerned with what has been characterized as popular (Dt.: das Populäre) in German literature, culture and language. Popular is understood here in a sense close to its etymological origin, i.e. relating to ordinary people. This notion is relevant not only to writers or artists (one may think of the contrast between high culture" and "low culture / popular culture" for instance), but also to all those who analyse the politics, the history, the culture and the language of modern, industrial societies. The papers collected in this book offer a global survey of the notion, emphasizing the interactions between the popular or "folksy" and the elitist elements found in language and culture.This book contains the papers presented at the 41st annual meeting of the French Association of University Teachers of German, held in May 2008 at the University of Goettingen.
