Security Specialist "Tinker" Knight lives by three rules: protect the defenseless, don't take non-serious stuff so series, and keep relationships brief, simple, and unattached. An impromptu drunken lecture on the origins of his club's mascot from unassuming Abby has him reevaluating rule three.

Single mom Abby Day's life is simple: work, her son, her friends, and weekends at the aquarium naming fish. In a word: boring. Until her (soon to be former) best friend, pretending to be her, agrees to a date with hot, bearded, tattooed biker-guy, Tinker. 

Stepping out of her comfort zone is hard and ripping off the band-aid hurts. Especially when a scorching hot make-out session turns into a disappearing act. Who knew tough guys were so skittish?

Abby's simple life is upended and, in a moment of crisis, she turns to Tinker for help. All she needed was a phone number-he decided she needed him. Abby is slow to trust-he already ghosted her once-but if there's one thing Tinker is good at, it's protecting people. A surprisingly calming force in the center of her now chaotic life, Abby finds herself relying on him more and more until a secret from Tinker's past makes her question everything.

When the safety of her family is in jeopardy, Abby once again turns to Tinker for help because despite everything, he will never leave the defenseless unprotected.
