Design for the Limits

A cloud flow that runs perfectly with fifty test records can fail badly with fifty thousand. It starts to return 429 errors. Its loops stop at 5,000 items the week its owner leaves. It quietly uses more actions in a day than its owner's licence allows. And the HTTP trigger that a partner system calls turns out to accept requests from anyone holding the URL.
Design for the Limits is written for the people who have to prevent that: solution architects, technical leads and Power Platform developers who already know how to build a flow and now need to know where it will break. It is not a beginner's guide.
Dr. Shubh Chandra Jha, a former Architect and Senior Technical Delivery Manager at Microsoft, works through the platform from the inside out. You will learn how a run executes and what counts as one action, the hard limits on loops, payloads and run time, and how to calculate a flow's daily consumption against Power Platform request limits before you build it. You will see the three layers of throttling, from licence limits to connector limits to Dataverse service protection, and which fixes work at each one.
The book then turns to design decisions. When should work move into a Dataverse plug-in, an Azure Function or Logic Apps? Why does a data policy see a custom connector clearly and an HTTP action hardly at all? How should an HTTP-triggered flow authenticate its callers, and why should that check never live inside the flow? The final chapters show how to monitor flows with Application Insights, Dataverse run history and the Automation center, and close with a design review checklist you can use on your next project.
