Domuni, a collective adventure

Founded in 1998 by the Dominican Order, Domuni Universitas is much more than a simple academic initiative: it is the story of a genuine exploration of the digital continent that was emerging at the dawn of the 2000s. This book, celebrating the 25th anniversary of this pioneering institution, tells the story of how, day after day, an international online university was built, offering courses in French, English, Spanish, Italian and Arabic, and innovative programmes accessible to everyone, wherever they are.
As you read through the pages, you will discover the challenges faced in building teaching support adapted to distance learning, designing a sustainable economic and social model, and meeting the challenges of an ever-changing academic world. Through stories, personal accounts and collective reflections, this book takes a behind-the-scenes look at this intellectual and human adventure, where technology and humanism meet.
Domuni: a collective adventure is the account of Brother Michel Van Aerde, the instigator of the project, who looks back on the collective adventure of Domuni Universitas, driven by the conviction that the transdisciplinarity and transculturality made possible by distance learning via the Internet are the keys to a profound renewal, particularly in theology.
