Jayd Jackson and her crew can't seem to agree on anything, especially not on who should be the next Voodoo Queen of Compton, or president of the Associated Student Body at South Bay High, a.k.a Drama High. With a devious godfather helping Emilio, one of Jayd's most formidable enemies, become the next up-and-coming Babalawo of Compton, and the attempted coup of Jayd's new spiritual house she recently inherited from Esmeralda, her grandmother's nemesis, it's no wonder that Jayd hasn't completely lost it-at least not yet.

Mama-Jayd's grandmother and the daughter of the infamous Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau-still hasn't completely forgiven Jayd for taking her crown before she was ready to pass it on, but she understands that her time as queen has come to (somewhat) of an end. Trying to make things right with her husband is still Mama's top priority, but will she have to choose between the man that she loves and the lineage she was bestowed? Jayd's own love life is no better: Will she finally get to be with Chase in the light of day and not just in her dreams, get back with her first love, Rah, or just be by herself, which seems like a good plan after Jayd witnesses several relationships devolve around her, including Nellie's abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend, David. Luckily, she has her new friend Marcia, right by her side. Marcia's been very helpful with the digital side of things, including making sure that David's memory stays in the past, but how long will David and the rest of Jayd's adversaries stay at bay?
