En attendant le concile de l'Eglise Orthodoxe

Le patriarche œcuménique Bartholomée Ier, primat de l'Église orthodoxe de Constantinople, qui dispose d'une primauté sur l'ensemble des Églises orthodoxes, a annoncé, en septembre 2010, vouloir convoquer pour 2012 un " Saint et Grand Concile Orthodoxe ". Si cette invitation était confirmée, les Églises chrétiennes orthodoxes, qui représentent plus de 200 millions de fidèles dans le monde, devraient adopter, au cours de ce concile, plusieurs décisions importantes. Hormis des questions portant sur le fonctionnement interne de l'Église orthodoxe (statut de la diaspora orthodoxe, règles de proclamation de l'autocéphalie et de l'autonomie, empêchements au mariage, règles du jeûne, ordre de préséance), quatre autres sujets devant faire l'objet de décisions conciliaires concernent l'ensemble des chrétiens : " L'Orthodoxie et le mouvement œcuménique " ; " Les relations des Églises orthodoxes avec l'ensemble du monde chrétien " ; " La contribution des Églises orthodoxes locales à la réalisation des idéaux chrétiens de paix, de liberté, de fraternité et d'amour " ; " Un calendrier commun ". Les textes réunis dans ce recueil sont des conférences données par Antoine Arjakovsky, entre 2004 et 2010, sur la plupart des thèmes qui seront abordés lors du prochain concile de l'Église orthodoxe. Plusieurs chapitres sont consacrés également à la situation du mouvement œcuménique dans le monde et en Europe de l'Est. Des annexes permettent de faire un point plus récent sur la situation actuelle de la préparation du concile. -- The ecumenical patriarch Bartholomew Ist, primate of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople with primacy over all the Orthodox Church, announced in September 2010 that he wished to convene in 2012 a 'Great and Holy Council of the Orthodox Church'. Apart from questions about the internal functioning of the Orthodox Church (status of the diaspora, rules to proclaim autocephaly and autonomy, preventions from marrying, fasting rules, order of precedence), four more subjects that concern all Christians would be matter for conciliar decisions: "Orthodoxy and the ecumenical movement'; "The relations between the Orthodox Churches and the rest of the Christian world'; " The contribution made by local Orthodox Churches to the realisation of Christian ideals of peace, freedom, fraternity and love', and "A common calendar'. The texts assembled in this book are from conferences given by Antoine Arjakovsky between 2004 and 2010 focusing on most of the themes that will come under discussion at the next Orthodox council. Several chapters are also devoted to the situation of the ecumenical movement in the world and in Eastern Europe. Annexes permit readers to keep up to date with developments in preparation for the council.
