Follow your Kenyan

Good intentions are not enough.

Every year, mission teams cross oceans to serve in Kenya with sincere hearts. Yet without cultural understanding and real submission to local leadership, short-term trips can leave behind confusion, dependency, strained finances and broken trust. Kenyan pastors are left to repair it long after the team flies home.

Follow Your Kenyan is a practical, Scripture-grounded field guide for teams who want to be a genuine blessing: true partners, not accidental burdens. Written from inside the Kenyan church, it shows visiting teams how to:

• Build real partnership before you travel, not just exchange logistics
• Pack wisely: clothing, equipment, medicines, gifts and donations that won't create legal or relational problems
• Follow local leadership, advise only when invited, and observe before acting
• Protect boundaries: contacts, social media, photography and safeguarding children
• Communicate clearly in a culture where "maybe" is often heard as a promise
• Keep Christ at the centre, strengthen the local church, and leave well

Inside you'll find:

• 11 chapters with 12 real-world scenarios
• "Kenyan Perspective" reflections in local leaders' voices
• Reflection questions for team preparation and debrief
• A packing checklist, a printable field card and a pre-trip conversation guide
• Essential Kiswahili phrases for visiting teams
• Three simple evangelism tools used by Kenyan churches

It's ideal for team leaders, sending churches, mission agencies and every first-time visitor preparing to serve alongside the church in Kenya.

You are not coming into a vacuum. Follow your Kenyan. Follow Christ.
