Mara works for the System, processing the minor "integrity flags" that keep the peace. She is a loyal citizen-until she finds a glitch in her own life: a memory of her daughter, Ava, that simply will not compute.

Mara's husband is dead, but her daughter is alive, a perfect, simulated memory construct designed to anchor Mara's compliance. When the System realizes Mara is investigating, it begins a campaign of "polite stonewalling," slowly isolating her through logistics and silencing her without violence.

Now Mara is flagged as an anomaly-a source of uncontrolled exponential persistence. She must flee into the forgotten under-levels of the city to join a desperate resistance known only as The Fractured.
