Galileo's story may be more relevant today than ever before. At present, we face enormous crises-such as minimizing the dangers of climate change-because the science behind these threats is erroneously questioned or ignored. Galileo encountered this problem 400 years ago. His discoveries, based on careful observations and ingenious experiments, contradicted conventional wisdom and the teachings of the church at the time. Consequently, in a blatant assault on freedom of thought, his books were forbidden by church authorities.
Galileo published his theories regardless of the danger and struggled to deal with the repercussions of doing so. His amazing career was characterized by a tenuous balance between publishing the truth of his discoveries and maintaining good relationships with the people in power. Like so many other great people of that age, galileo was born not far from florence, italy, making him a product of the continent's foremost trendsetter during the renaissance and scientific revolution.
Have you ever wondered how the world becomes a world, and how a genius becomes a genius? This is what we will recognize in this book with the famous scientist galileo galilei. We will learn about his childhood and his youth and the most important factors that made him the genius of his time.
