Professor Shoshichi Kobayashi was a recognized international leader in the areas of differential geometry and complex geometry. He contributed crucial ideas which are still fundamental in these research areas. This volume is dedicated to his memory and contains contributions from distinguished researchers working on topics close to his research areas.§This volume consists of three parts: First we give an overview of Professor Shoshichi Kobayashi s career.
