When a 12-year-old girl named Maya discovers a shard of enchanted glass on a distant shore, the "Thaw" begins. Barnaby must embark on a 3,000-mile journey south, dodging a vengeful sea serpent and the crushing guilt of his past. He has one chance to break the glass and restore the river.
