Health Statistics

In response to the vast amount of statistics literature that has been produced in the fifteen years since the publication of the first edition of Health Statistics, this new edition includes information about new print publications and resources available via electronic media including the Internet. The majority of the resources described are federal publications from agencies like the National Center for Health Statistics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but a large portion covers publications of private health organizations and health professional associations that collect statistics. Most of the annotations contained in Health Statistics are for printed materials, but electronic resources are noted, and in the case of indexes and abstracts, the particular software version is pointed out. Each chapter begins with brief notes that summarize the most useful resources included. Chapters are arranged into sub-sections by topic to make them more readable. Cross references are provided for sources that overlap chapters or sections. The appendixes include newsletters and journals as well as lists of government agencies, private associations, and depository libraries from which publications may be obtained. A glossary of the most important terminology in health statistics rounds out the volume.
