Hollowbeck is the sort of village people pass through without ever really noticing. Hidden among the forests and hills of Northumberland, it is a place of old cottages, quiet traditions and families who have lived there for generations.

When a retired couple disappear while touring the area in their motorhome, there seems little reason to connect them with the remote village. But Daniel Mercer isn't convinced. His search brings him to Hollowbeck, where friendly faces offer few answers and an old lead mine lies forgotten beneath the trees.

For generations, five families have carried a responsibility handed down from parent to child. A responsibility governed by three simple words: LEAVE NO SIGN. But traditions that survive unquestioned for centuries can look very different when seen through the eyes of a new generation.

When Daniel begins asking the wrong questions, Hollowbeck must decide how far it is prepared to go to protect its heart.
