Igby: Friends of the Past, is the first book in the series Igby's Adventures.
Shortly after Igby is born, his mom leaves him at Aunt Mattie's house, running off to follow a band. Barely able to stand in his crib, one day his aunt sees him talking with three ghosts.
As time goes along, Igby slowly makes friends, some that people can see and others that appear more imaginary or ghostly.
Quick to find adventures in just playing hide and seek or chasing lizards in vacant lots, slowly Igby's world grows to several blocks in an older part of a large city. A world of back alleys, vacant lots, old buildings and a canal that runs through part of the city.
Tragedy strikes when his best friend is thrown into the canal, Igby seeing his ghost.
