Jake, Scout and the Bike Thieves

JAKE, SCOUT, AND THE BIKE THIEVES
The Jake & Scout Adventures, Book 1

Somebody stole Jake's bike. Then they stole his second one. Big mistake.

On Christmas morning, Jake Parker got the best present ever: a shiny red bike. It wasn't just a bike - it was his paper-route bike. Every morning, Jake delivers the Daily to more than five miles of Willow Creek, with his scruffy dog Scout trotting beside him... or riding in his very own bike wagon like the mayor of the whole neighborhood.

Then one afternoon, on a quick errand for his mom, Jake comes out of the store and his bike is GONE. The lock is cut. The bike has vanished.

A setback isn't a stop sign - not for Jake. He delivers his route on a skateboard (ouch). He discovers his friends' bikes have been stolen too. And he makes a quiet promise: somehow, he is going to help catch the thieves.

So Jake starts Jake's Lawn Service, mows four neighbors' lawns for three long months, and earns enough for a brand-new blue e-bike - with a range of 35 miles! This time, though, Jake has a plan. He hides a tiny GPS tag under the seat, where nobody can see it.

Two weeks later, the new bike is stolen too.

But this time... there's a blinking dot on the map.

What happens next turns Jake into the most famous kid in Willow Creek - and brings hundreds of stolen bikes home to the kids they belong to.

A funny, big-hearted adventure about never giving up, earning your own way, and one very good dog.

FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS: The back of the book includes "Bike Safety Tips from Jake" - real steps families can take to protect a bike and get it back if it's stolen: take photos, write down the serial number, keep the purchase receipt, register the bike with your local police department, and how GPS tags work. Printed in large print (18pt Atkinson Hyperlegible), designed to be easy on young eyes and great for reluctant readers.
