Life rarely follows a straight line.

Keep This Close is a Catholic faith-and-life guide for teenage girls-but it takes a deliberately nontraditional approach.

Rather than giving a rule and stopping there, each chapter looks at a real-life question from several directions: What does Scripture offer? What does the Catholic Church actually teach? What does accurate real-world information say? And what does this choice look like in a teenager's actual life?

The goal is not to hide difficult information in order to produce a particular answer. It is to give the reader enough context to understand the question honestly, consider her faith seriously, recognize practical consequences, and make thoughtful decisions.

Topics include relationships, mental health, family, school, sexuality, consent, pregnancy, friendship, grief, faith, independence, and the ordinary choices involved in growing up. Chapters combine Scripture, Catholic teaching, real-life perspective, reflection, practical guidance, and trusted outside resources.

This distinction matters: the book explains Catholic teaching clearly, but it also discusses choices and resources that are not consistent with Catholic teaching when they are part of the real situation a teenager may face. For example, discussions of sexual health and pregnancy include medically accurate information about contraception, emergency contraception, abortion, adoption, parenting, and access to care while also explaining the Church's moral teaching about those choices.

This is therefore not the right book for someone looking for a guide that presents only Church-approved options or keeps a young reader from encountering alternatives. It is intended for families who would rather a teen have full information, clear Catholic context, and a safe place to think than leave difficult questions unanswered.

She can start with the question that matters today, come back when something changes, and keep the book close for whatever comes next.
