Kimika and Kalynn think Saturday will be a quiet morning at home, until Dad announces that he is going to vote.
The sisters have seen voting on television before, but they have never been inside a polling place. When Dad invites them to come along, Kimika and Kalynn step into a world of ballots, privacy booths, volunteers, and "I Voted" stickers. What first seems quiet and ordinary soon becomes something much bigger.
As the family talks about voting, the girls learn that not everyone always had this right. Black Americans, women, and many others had to march, speak up, organize, and refuse to give up so their voices could be heard.
Inspired by what they learn, Kimika and Kalynn create their own family election to choose Friday movie night. With ballots, a voting box, privacy rules, and respectful counting, they discover that democracy is not just about winning. It is about fairness, listening, patience, and respecting the outcome.
