This is the second novel in the Spanish House series of books. This follows the first novel - The Keys to the Spanish House. The story continues two months after its conclusion. George Lisle has been sacked from his job. Following his appeal, which fails, the smokescreen is in place for him to become part of ECCO. This is the shadowy EU organisation set up to seize the proceeds of crime of criminal gangs. George and Ana Guerra are set to return to infiltrate the Brotherhood of Ten, the vicious Russian drugs gang. who were in pursuit of his Uncle in the previous book. Ana's expertise is needed by the new head of the gang - she was the money mover for the previous boss. He was killed by his enforcer, Maxim Varanich, known also as The Wolf. George rescued her, in a violent conclusion to the first book and Ana shot the enforcer, Varanich, putting him at death's door. He is in a coma in a hospital, and not expected to recover.Ana begins her new undercover mission, still leading a dangerous double life, persuading Jaime, the flashy new head of the drugs gang that George, now a disgraced policeman, has crossed over to their side. Ana has a new boss at ECCO. A super smooth, treacly voiced Frenchman with political ambitions, Aleron Le Coq seems to be the epitome of the modern boss. He is not what he seems. Ana is suspicious of him and his intentions and has an instant dislike for Simone his assistant, who she suspects of being his mistress. She is correct - and Simone has an irrational hatred of Ana. The two are destined to clash, violently. Le Coq has his own agenda, using George and Ana as expendable pawns in his game - to access and steal the gang's vast wealth, for himself and his lover, and assistant, Simone.Will Ana even be believed by the new gang leader or is it a suicide mission for the two of them, now they are a couple?Set in Spain, predominantly in Ronda and Puerto Banus, the base for the gang is a fabulous new golf course built in the mountains, mid-way to Ronda. The new gang leader wants to take their drugs operation into legitimate enterprises - a move being resisted by the older school types of the gang, threatening Jaime's position. A state sanctioned execution, double crosses, a last minute twist, a shoot out in Puerto Banus are all elements of the story. Sun, sea, super yachts, extraordinary locations and unlikely saviours complete the story. It is a wild, involved tale of deception, greed and for George and Ana, an ever closer relationship - if they survive this fast paced tale.
