This main goal of this Book is to go beyond descriptive vulnerability assessments and offer a decision-oriented, policy-relevant framework for comprehending and mitigating multi-hazard livelihood hazards. Although cyclone dynamics, exposure patterns, and socioeconomic vulnerability have been thoroughly documented in the literature, there is still a severe lack of integrative resources that link livelihood analysis, hazard science, resilience measurement, and strategic adaptation planning at the micro (village) level. By integrating resilience indices (RIMA), food insecurity measures (HHS and HFIAS), and a novel SWOT-FAHP-TOWS paradigm to convert empirical findings into practical adaptation and policy paths, this book fills that gap.
The lack of a single analytical resource that connects multi-hazard risk assessment with livelihood vulnerability, resilience inequity, and workable policy design in coastal agrarian and fishing communities is a major issue that the book addresses for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers. This volume functions as both an academic reference and a strategic guide for developing locally grounded, scalable interventions to improve climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods in hazard-prone coastal regions by bridging theory and practice and aligning its insights with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
