Love, Laughter, & Dancing! A collection of favourite memories from our life in Mexico.
From our 600-plus blog posts totaling over 500,000 words, I chose those that capture the fun, excitement, and occasional frustration of life in a foreign country. I appreciate our family, friends, and acquaintances for granting permission to share their stories. Enjoy!
August 2005
In the beginningThe warm moonlit night was still, and the lake's gentle ripples whispered softly.
The throaty roar of our 1958 classic Chris Craft echoed across Okanagan Lake. Lawrie was on his way home from work. As the restaurant manager at a large Penticton hotel, he occasionally used the boat for transportation.
I turned on the music, lit a dozen candle lanterns, and placed them along the pathway from our house to the waterfront. Then I poured our wine.
I met him at the dock, helped him secure the lines, and handed him a glass of wine. We ambled back to our patio and settled into our favourite chairs. Our big grey cat, Thomas, joined us.
Stars. A full moon. Clear night. Candles. Music. And wine.
Inhaling the aromas of the summer night, I took a sip of wine. "Ah, this is perfect," I said, then looked at Lawrie. "I'm bored. Are you?"
"Hell, yeah, I'm bored," he said with a laugh.
"What do you want to do next?"
"I think we should move somewhere tropical," he said. "Someplace warm."
And the hunt was on for the ideal location.
