Marrying Her Friend

Britta Bolton has known and loved Mav her whole life - as friends. She's willing to be the friend he needs even if her own happiness is sacrificed.

She's interested in dating someone else, but she promptly puts that plan on hold to come to the rescue of her best friend. She loves his company and they know each other inside and out. While a marriage of convenience isn't what she really sees for herself, she's more than willing to make this plan work for the guy who's always been there for her.

Maverick Tucker is in a bit of a pickle. He's ready for the promotion he's worked so hard for at Bolton Farms but his father thinks he needs a wife before that promotion becomes a reality.

When Britta agrees to marry him and promises that their marriage will be permanent, he's reluctant for only a moment. He's actually relieved that his problem is solved. And marrying his best friend doesn't sound half bad.

As they go through the motions of being engaged and making it seem real, things start to change. Mav sees that Britta may make more of a sacrifice than he can ask of her. She's still all in for their plan, but he knows he should put a stop to it.

When he thinks of breaking their engagement off, his heart is wounded. He's shocked at his feelings. Now he doesn't know if he should let her go or fight for her.
