Medieval and Early Modern Art in Central Europe is a collection of essays that grew out of the papers presented at a thematic conference in Nowy Sącz, Poland, in 2017. The volume unites scholars from the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Poland, Ukraine and the United States. The introduction, by the editors Waldemar Deluga and Daniela Rywiková, outlines the rationale behind the joint publication that represents a cross- section of the most recent Central European scholarship in a French- English language volume. The book covers the issues of me-dieval and early renaissance book illumination, the art related to female monasteries, and tran-sitions from the Gothic to Renaissance in iconography, architecture and style of manuscript miniatures. In the last part, there are reflections on the art of national minorities in the former Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and two articles discussing the icono-graphy of Eastern Christian art in Ukraine.
