This book is a sequel to the author's earlier. This second book covers new developments on playful interfaces, that is, developments that include the use of audio, visual, tactile and physiological sensors to monitor and anticipate the behavior of a human user or human users of such environments that was addressed in the first edited book. The book also contains chapters on social signal processing, affective computing (including matters such as empathy and humor), and brain-computer interfacing. New technological developments include new wearables that allow knowledge of physical information to guide interaction and that allow physiological information to be integrated and embedded in more traditional ways of interacting with an environment. There is more focus on playful interfaces that require knowledge about social signals that underlie human-human interaction, that know about affect and empathy and that are able to take into account signals coming from wearables such as clothes and mobile devices and that include (neuro-) physiological information.§
