Before she became the Pathfinder, she was simply a girl who saw the universe differently.
Mzaliwa wa pili of House Nihaarika was born with a mind that perceives mathematics as living colour and spatial form. On T'haeri, a perfect system arranges the course of every life, down to the one each person will be paired with at twenty-eight. Guided by forty-seven generations of ancestral wisdom and sanctioned by Brjamohana herself, she becomes the first being in four centuries to deviate from it, and the first to cross deliberately between dimensional realities.
On the other side, no one is expecting her. Stranded by dimensional desynchronization, she spends five years among a Terrestris civilisation that has cut itself free from nature and from any shared design. She masks who she is, searches its archives, and finds the roots it once shared with every living thing. Then she works out the way home. Home is a T'haeri still rebuilding after occupation, where the pairing arranged for her waits, and this time the choice is hers.
Mzaliwa is a coming-of-age story about the loneliness of extraordinary minds and the ancestral wisdom that sustains them. It asks what a system is worth if it is imposed, and whether it can hold at all unless it is chosen freely. Compiled by Mzaliwa herself on her return, the book is also a Codex: a reference to the worlds, species, sciences and histories of the 'Awal Mara universe. It assumes no prior reading of the series, only a willingness to understand.
