With no real proof, FBI Special Agent, Adam Grant, suspects a serial killer is targeting animal abusers. His hunch leads him to Gardenia Hill, a premier animal sanctuary in South Carolina, founded by Katherine"Red" Sutter, a fierce advocate for animals and animal rights.

"If an animal needs help, they don't care what you're wearing," Red was known to say, and would rescue a dog in jeans or a ball gown. Red has passed away, but Gardenia Hill continues to thrive, now run by her spirited niece, Greer.

While Greer knew her aunt was a prominent figure in animal rescue, even testifying before Congress, she did not know Red had been a consultant for the FBI. Greer agrees to help by going through old files, but does not know Adam is looking for a serial killer.
