They represent a journey. A journey that is in some way, shape, or form, a shared human experience. The point of the book is for readers to finally be able to feel understood, like finally all those things they've been wanting to say for so long have been put into words, that they can finally make sense of their thoughts and feelings, and that despite how it might feel right now, there is still joy in the sadness. There is still beauty in the pain.
