Seventeen-year-old Rebecca Rutherford just wants to graduate and get out of her isolated small town of Ridgewood for good. She thinks a camping trip to Lachlan Lake will give her a break from her alcoholic mother and stress-inducing homework. However, Rebecca's life changes forever when she is attacked and bitten by a mysterious animal along with her best friend, Juliet Monroe.

While dealing with the aftermath of the attack and her feelings for her English teacher's son, Blake McCarthy, Rebecca starts to develop a strange craving for raw meat and experiences a series of bizarre bodily changes that coincidentally line up with the shifting phases of the moon, prompting her to question what exactly attacked Juliet and her that night.

Rebecca works with Juliet to come to terms with what really happened to them, which leads them to realize that the creature in the woods might not be human and, even worse, it might still be on the loose.

As the full moon draws closer and the changes get worse, Rebecca must find the creature responsible for biting her and a cure for her condition before it's too late and she loses her humanity forever.
