Still Becoming is a 60-piece collection of poetry and original songs about survival, healing, Black identity, love, loneliness, motherhood, mental health, and finding your way back to yourself.
I wrote this collection from the parts of me that had to grow up too early, stay strong for everyone else, and keep moving even when I felt tired inside.
These pieces reflect on childhood responsibility, family pressure, grief, anxiety, love, identity, emotional exhaustion, and the quiet battles people often carry without saying anything.
They speak to the person who learned how to survive before learning how to feel safe.
The person who became dependable because there was no other choice.
The person who made room for everyone else while slowly losing parts of themselves.
Across six emotional sections, this collection follows the journey from carrying pain to understanding it, from feeling alone to allowing yourself to be seen, and from surviving life to finally choosing peace.
Some pieces are soft.
Some are heavy.
Some come from places that were difficult to revisit.
Others remind us that healing can begin in small ways-through music, honesty, boundaries, love, rest, and the decision to stop abandoning ourselves.
Still Becoming is not about having everything figured out.
It is about accepting that growth does not always happen in a straight line.
It is about learning that rest is not weakness, boundaries are not betrayal, and beginning again does not mean you failed.
This collection is for anyone who has ever felt invisible while being strong for everyone else.
For anyone learning how to love themselves without guilt.
For anyone rebuilding after survival.
For anyone still discovering who they are beneath everything they have carried.
You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are still healing.
You are still growing.
You are still becoming.
