The Andiya Trilogy

In The Andia Trilogy, Majid Saberi creates the world of a young woman with a bold voice, biting humor, and an unflinching eye for the details of everyday life. Migration confronts Andia with new questions about identity, the body, love, desire, and belonging. Moving through supermarkets and libraries, shared apartments and Canadian streets, real relationships and private fantasies, she is continually redefining herself and her place in a world where the familiar rules of the past no longer apply. The name "Andia" becomes both the starting point for the collection's three stories and the thread connecting the different experiences of its central character-a name that, for the author, opened the door to new possibilities in storytelling. The Andia Trilogy is a contemporary exploration of migration and solitude, but it is equally a story about the desire to be seen, to love and be loved, and to construct a sense of self between two worlds. Weaving together popular culture, literature, music, cinema, and the textures of everyday life, Saberi continually shifts the boundaries between seriousness and comedy, intimacy and alienation, reality and imagination. The result is a trio of interconnected stories centered on a rebellious, imaginative, and memorable character, offering an unconventional portrait of immigrant life through its most private, intimate, and sometimes unexpected moments.
