Although Aquinas's work remained unfinished, his analysis of the nature and operation of angels remains fundamental to understanding the philosophical roots of this topic.

In The Angels, I aim to unravel the complexities of this masterpiece, shedding light on the various theories that Saint Thomas reviews regarding separate substances. Through rigorous analysis, I explore the opinions of philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, and Avicenna, while also highlighting the Catholic teaching that underlies the treatise. The predominance of the philosophical section over the theological one offers a unique perspective that invites reflection on the nature of angels and their role in the universe.

The work is structured into two main parts: the first, a philosophical examination that spans from naturalistic theories to critiques of erroneous positions by Neoplatonists, and the second, an exposition of the Catholic teaching on spiritual substances, anchored in Sacred Scripture and patristic thought. Through this journey, I emphasize how Saint Thomas not only critiques erroneous ideas but also establishes a theological framework that has endured through the centuries.
