L'Veyna watched her god crumble to ash.

She should have been laughing and dancing with the rest of the youth, not witnessing the moment Prophecy bound them to the cruelties of Prophecy. Hunted by sycophants, she flees her home with Jouler, the Harbinger of Death; the man fated to lead her people to destruction, and she would stand beside him. So said Prophecy. L'Veyna and Jouler avoid imperial patrols and seek refuge in the frozen heights of the Boorde Alliance, home of the iconic race of philosophers and blademasters. L'Veyna's and Jouler's safety is shattered when rumor of his role in Prophecy spreads among the Boorde. Hunted once more, visions of ruin drive them across the Blasted Lands, chasing whispers of the Black Breath, a dark relic left by the evil god Dra'Nahl.
