The Elf Who Was Supposed to Outlive Him

The Elf Who Was Supposed to Outlive Him
Book 2

Theo Berry finally has everything he wanted: a real adventuring party, a road full of new possibilities, and Aerendir, the beautiful elf ranger who once tried to leave him behind and now seems physically incapable of letting him out of reach.

Being Aerendir's boyfriend is wonderful. Being Aerendir's boyfriend around Aerendir's family is considerably more complicated.

When a mysterious disturbance begins twisting the paths around the ancient elven settlement of Vaelaris, Aerendir is summoned home. Forest trails lead travellers in impossible directions, familiar landmarks appear where they should not, and an experienced ranger has vanished while investigating the strange magic.

For Theo, it should be another adventure with the man he loves and the ridiculous found family they have gathered along the way.

Instead, Theo discovers that many elves see human and elf relationships very differently.

Aerendir's family welcomes him. They like him. They admire him. They even seem genuinely pleased that he makes Aerendir happy.

They also talk about the centuries Aerendir will live after Theo is gone.

To them, a human lover can be cherished without ever being permanent. Theo knows Aerendir loves him, but surrounded by a culture where an elf's future can stretch across centuries, he begins to wonder whether being loved for the rest of his life is the same as being chosen for the rest of Aerendir's.

As the magical forest shifts around them and old family expectations close in, Theo and Aerendir must navigate an adventure that will test more than their tracking skills. Because Theo is no longer the inexperienced adventurer Aerendir rescued on the road, and their relationship is no longer something either of them can allow others to dismiss as temporary.

The Elf Who Was Supposed to Outlive Him is Book 2 in a cosy MM fantasy romance series featuring an established human and elf couple, found family, magical forests, hurt and comfort, romantic comedy, cultural misunderstandings, affectionate boyfriends, whimsical adventure, and a love determined to mean more than the years it is given.
