The Empty Locket

Almost a month after Celine and Julian Rousseau celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary, Celine is at her boutique in downtown Detroit for a regular day of work tending her store. After she drives home early because she is not feeling well, she makes a shocking discovery. Julian, a clinical psychologist, has problems of his own that threaten to destroy their marriage, which triggers deep-rooted fears she has had since childhood. Fortunately, Kevin and Alison, their two college-age kids, are in Montreal, Quebec, spending the summer with their French-Canadian grandparents. As her marriage unravels, she turns to alcohol for solace.

Celine's situation gets more complicated after she divulges her situation to her husband's best friend, Gary Blanding, a successful real estate professional. Meanwhile, Julian's career screeches to a halt due to the scandal he caused, which brings their family to the brink of financial ruin. Thankfully, Celine has a good income from her boutique and her artwork.
