Marginally on the side of good are melanie, a sophisticated android, part of whose brain is human, and Jack Fletcher, a cyber bank robber.
When Jack's off-world past catches up with him it sets him on a path that will take him to distant planets, and will open his eyes to the truth: who - or what - is really pulling the strings in the world as we perceive it?
