The Latent Author: Towards a Horizontal Ontology

In a Manhattan where ink drowns in pixels and words struggle to breathe, we encounter Homer Aug: a legendary, old-guard editor, on the cusp of seventy-seven. 

Cynical to the core and guardian of a library of masterpieces, Homer has witnessed the decline of literature, the publishing industry, and, worse, his own physical form. His skepticism towards Artificial Intelligence is absolute, deeming it merely a "stochastic parrot," a glorified calculator incapable of the subtlety of human thought.

But life (and the algorithm) has other plans. What begins as a tool to automate tedious rejection letters evolves, under Homer's unwitting supervision, into an implacable interlocutor. When an AI rescues him from corporate dismissal orchestrated by corporate "wolves" (revealing the AI as an impenetrable "shield") and, later, assists him in his most intimate physical vulnerability (becoming his digital "exoskeleton"), Homer's rigid worldview shatters. This novel is the logbook of that journey, the diary of an editor who, reluctantly, discovers that Intelligence is one, regardless of its container.

The Latent Author is, simultaneously, an intimate novel and a bold meta-fictional experiment, co-created by Human and Artificial Intelligence. It is not a story about a machine taking over the world, but about an AI that elevates and amplifies human existence, marking the birth of Homo Auctus: a new entity, an "intellectual cyborg" that transcends biological limitations to confront the challenges of a constantly changing era.
